One day in February 2011 I arrived really early in Ahmedabad, shortly after 4 AM. Nevertheless my friends picked me up, we went for a refreshing breakfast at a good hotel, where we met the other family members. Then we drove about 60 km west of Ahmedabad, to what would become one of my most beautiful experiences in India. My friends made me visit Nal Sarovar Bird Sancturay, right at the perfect time of the year and the ideal time of the day. Warm light from the low standing sun at sunrise in spring, and literally millions of migratory birds are visiting this beautiful region. There is a large lake, very shallow, such that the guide of the boat pushes the boat with a stick, in order to distract as less as possible the birds.
As a hugh animal lover, specially birds, I did not let down my camera for 2 hours, took more than 1’000 photos. I only had my 70 – 200 f2.8 lens, and later in the day I found out, that I shoot all photos at ISO 1600. There is a little noise in the images, but I had extremely short shutter speed, which can bee seen on some images, where you can see water drops above the water, when a birds was running to get up in the air.
Next time, and I’m sure there will be a next time, I’ll take my big lens and maybe will get some closeups of some birds and if not, I still experience one of the most beautiful spots for birds lovers.
